Cedar Hill is located just south of Arlington Texas in Dallas County.  Cedar Hill's ideal location makes it a great place to live.  Residents are located inside the Dallas/Forth Worth Metroplex but without the traffic congestion and the high prices.  Cedar Hill covers a total of 21 square miles and has a population of over 32,000.

Cedar Hill is a high tech suburban community that is constantly under development.  A lot of Cedar Hill's residents find this community as a great escape from the fast paced lifestyle that is found in Dallas/Forth Worth. 

Cedar Hill Housing

There are over 11,000 housing units in Cedar Hill according to the 2000 Census.  Approximately 97% of units are occupied.  80% of those are occupied by owners and approximately 20% occupied by renters. 

Cedar Hill Employment

Cedar Hill has a very strong work force that continues to grow.  Low cost training programs are created to help businesses grow.  The Cedar Hill Development Department takes business growth very seriously.  The department is designed to help businesses find a good location as well as aid in expansion.  Incentive programs are also available.

The demand for employment continues to rise as large businesses are coming to Cedar Hill.  Currently under development are: a 92,000 square foot  J. C. Penney store, a 400,000 square foot Towne Center and many more business parks and properties.

Cedar Hill Transportation

Cedar Hill is accessible by the U.S. 67 which provide access to the I-20 and the U.S. 287.  Rail service in Cedar Hill is served by the Burlington Northern - Santa Fe company.  Air travelers can use DFW International Airport which is only 25 minutes from Cedar Hill.  Redbird airport, located 10 minutes away, is also in service to provide air transportation to and from Texas as well as neighboring states.

Public transportation is served by the Dallas Area Rapid Transportation System.  The Red Bird Transit Center also provides services throughout downtown  and neighboring communities.

Cedar Hill Recreation

There are many attractions available to Cedar Hill residents.  Just north of Cedar Hills are the World Champion Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Stars and the Dallas Mavericks.  Other attractions include the Ft Worth Stockyards and Water Gardens, Omni Theater, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Symphony and Dallas Opera.

Residents who enjoy outdoor activities have access to the famous Cedar Hill State Park.  Activities at the State Park include camping, Penn Farm, bird watching, picnicking, fishing, swimming beach and playgrounds.

Cedar Hill Education

Public education in Cedar Hill is served by the Cedar Hill Independent School District.  There are a total of 9 Elementary Schools, 1 Middle School and 1 High School.  Cedar Hill Community College is also under construction.

Cedar Hill sits at 616 feet above see level.  Average winter temperature is 36 degrees and average summer temperature is about 95 degrees.

The first settlers arrived in Cedar Hill in 1840.  Cedar Hill played an important role in the growth of Dallas/Forth Worth by serving as a stopping point for travelers to and from Forth Worth.  Cedar Hills also served as a commerce center for nearby farmers.
